A serene sanctuary for worship, enriched with dedicated spaces for learning and various activities, complemented by the renowned '随缘面' at Waterdrop Cafe. Regrettably, the cafe is currently restricted to temple members, rendering this haven remarkably exclusive. Compassion is now reserved solely for members and honored guests, transforming the temple into a haven for Buddhist scholars."
Very modern buddhist temple or should say is a buddhist activities center.
First time visitor. Dining in the cafe at Fo Guang Shan temple is a delightful experience for indulging in vegetarian meals. The atmosphere is serene, creating a tranquil setting for diners. The overall ambience is noteworthy, providing a great backdrop for a peaceful dining experience. Moreover, the staff members are not only polite but also exude respect and friendliness, enhancing the overall hospitality of the place.
You can really find peace dining at this place.
滴水阁is at level 3 of the building. Very calm and relaxing ambience.
The menu selection part is quite limited, but the taste is nice and I would say it is at the very affordable restaurant setting prices.
Each ala carte order (rice or noodle) is around $5.
The Rendang Mutton Rice is flavourful and I like the fruits tea too.
Will try other dishes next time my visit!
This temple is modern and clean. Its exudes a calming atmosphere for those who seeks peaceful minds . Its cafe at level 3 do serves some delicious vegetarian food and learnt that most are volunteers . Kudos for the volunteers for the good food and services .
Peaceful, serene, with modern architectural designs. Taiwanese style of Buddhism. The main entrance greets you with a giant, smiling Maitreya Buddha statue. Inside the hall, the white Sakyamuni Buddha statue sits in the centre surrounded by many emanations of Guanyin the Compassionate One.
There are variety of courses to choose from such as buddhist classes, yoga, calligraphy etc.
There is also a sutra-copying workshop to cultivate the mind. Library only opens in the weekends. A vegetarian restaurant is also available upstairs. Columbarian is at the highest level.
Opening hours was stated as 9am to 6pm. No details was given that the registration counter for prayer/donation closed as early as 4.30pm for consolidation. I was simply blocked by the signboard at the entrance to the registration counter "We are closed". The staff who were still working inside told me they closed for consolidation by 4.30pm and to come again another day. I was actually there around 4pm and contributed to the Sangha Offering for myself and on behalf of all my friends.
However, as I was leaving the temple, a friend called and wanted to make extra donations. Hence, I went back. But, this was such a bad experience that I felt that they do not need our donation.
Please state the opening hours of your registration counter in your website, Facebook and signboard outside your temple. Do not make devotees travelled all the way there assuming its closing time is at 6pm but was told that this was meant for the main gate but not the registration counter.
I do not stay next to the temple to go back again easily as most of us are working. I was very turned off by this bad experience.
I couldn't find a Buddhist temple, but a successful business. Vigilant employees, careful manoeuvred activities, and promoted and hinted paying opportunities everywhere.
